What is GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) is a regulation by which the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union, and the European Commission intend to strengthen and unify data protection for all individuals within the European Union (EU). It creates consistent data protection rules across Europe and applies to companies who are based in the EU and global companies who process personal data about individuals in the EU. The regulation comes into effect on the 25th May 2018.

What do Chat2Serve customers need to do if they have EU customers or are based in the EU?

  1. Read though the GDPR and document how you will collect and manage your customer data.
  2. Update Terms of Service and Privacy Policy to explain to your customers how and why Chat2Serve is used on your website.
  3. Make any necessary process changes to comply with these new laws.
  4. Read though and understand our Data Processing Agreement.

How Chat2Serve is complying with GDPR

Things we have always done:

  1. Clearly defined why and how we collect and use data in our privacy policy
  2. Provide in-app mechanism to turn on/off visitor information collection from your website
  3. We don't sell visitor data to any 3rd parties
  4. We consider all customer data belongs to our customer, not us
